This very dark ruby colored Barbera from Michele Chiarlo opens with a blackberry and black cherry bouquet with notes of espresso and leather. On the palate, this wine is medium plus bodied with medium plus acidity. The mouthfeel is balanced, dense and lively. The flavor profile is a cedar influenced extracted blackberry and stony minerality blend with notes of black tea and dried strawberry. I also detected hints of licorice and black pepper. The finish is dry with mouth drying tannins that stick around for a while. I would decant this Barbara before pairing it with grilled meat. A dry rubbed skirt steak comes to mind. Enjoy
The Michele Chiarlo 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo Il Principe opens to a pretty garnet color and bright aromas of wild cherry, blue flower, hazelnut and earthy potting soil. The wine boasts authentic and pleasing aromas that get your appetite going, especially as you wait for that piping hot plate of tajarin al plin to come out from the kitchen.
Medium ruby color, spicy nose, silky texture, juicy and bright, crisp; and long, tangy and fresh.
Rich, ripe and fresh, this red boasts macerated cherry, strawberry and eucalyptus flavors. Just a touch dry on the finish, but that may sort itself out in a few months.
Garnet red of medium intensity with brilliant reflections. Intense of good complexity and great elegance, hints of small black fruits, plums and violet. Pleasant impact, ample and balanced with silky tannins; highly pleasing and long lasting.
