Herrenweg Vineyard provided most of the grapes for this Riesling. Zind-Humbrecht's dedication to terroir expression guides all winemaking practices, which include extended pressing cycles, abbreviated clarification cycles (to retain natural yeasts and proteins in the must), natural malolactic fermentation and extended aging on the lees. The wine is aged 8 months in 40-year-old French barrels.

Harvest Note
2013 vintage was characterized by a succession of very dry and very wet periods. The official start of the harvest in Alsace was declared September 30th for all the varieties except for Riesling and Gewurztraminer (October 7th). The quality of the vineyard (exposition, slope, soil type) and viticulture (anything helping drainage, grass, lower yields…) made a big difference in achieving maturity earlier, thus not putting harvest off too long. Most of the wines are dry to very dry (influence of the racy acidity) and very few kept significant residual sweetness. The musts running from the press showed beautiful freshness and were quite aromatic. The wines are elegant and racy, without any trace of a botrytis character.
Tasting Note
The nose has a delicate fruity profile, showing citrus fruits and some exotic aromas. The palate is light and elegant, with crystalline structure. The wine tastes dry with an excellent acidity and without any sharpness. It is a very easy drinking wine and a perfect representation of a fresh Riesling.
Food Pairing
Enjoy as an aperitif or with seafood.
