Harvest Note
2012 was, beyond doubt, a vintage with excellent maturing and aging potential. After a rather cold winter, spring was relatively warm, in keeping with normal trends. The vegetative period started during the second half of April, as expected. Summer was very hot, with scarce rainfalls. The rainfalls in late summer and early September restored the balance and created the best conditions for the most important ripening phase of the Sangiovese grapes. The grapes achieved optimal characteristics, both in terms of health and analytical parameters. The month of September was very good from a meteorological standpoint. Acidity was optimal, and extractable polyphenols were in high quantity and well balanced.
Tasting Note
Ample and highly complex flavors develop to mineral notes of graphite, fruity tones of red berries and spicy aromas of clove and vanilla. Smooth and persistent notes characterized by velvety tannins.
Food Pairing
Pair with roasted lamb and aged cheeses.
