Solo is a sparkling dry red wine that is sourced exclusively from the acclaimed Tenuta I Qurecioli vineyards on the Medici Ermete estate, within the province of Reggio Emilia. Vines are grown in clay soil using Cordone Speronato (cordon trained and spur pruned) with restricted yields. The blend is 51% Ancellota and 49% Lambrusco Salamino. The Ancellota grape is known for its small and very dark berries, which give this wine concentrated red fruit flavors as well a sweet spice note. The wine is best served at a temperature of 57 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit and should be consumed within two years of vintage.

2020 vintage
Harvest Note
During an encouraging warm and sunny April, the Medici vines began to awaken. Although the late spring saw more rainfall than usual, budbreak occurred on schedule in May and the vines continued to thrive through the spring without incident. Luckily the rainy weather ceased by mid June and the hot, dry summer allowed for excellent and very healthy grape maturation. The Ancellotta grapes were picked beginning around the 10th day of September and the Salamino was harvested about three weeks later in early October. Overall the 2020 harvest can be heralded as an excellent harvest, with above average quality and good yields. The wines are particular fine and elegant with a harmonious aromatic profile and intense colors rich in voluet nuances for the reds. These are excellent conditions for a year of great wines.
Tasting Note
A vivid, brilliant ruby red, the wine shows classic red fruit aromas. Though dry, the palate is fruity, round and exuberant with fine and persistent bubbles.
Food Pairing
Delicious with cured pork meats such as salami or mortadella or a variety of pasta dishes such as tortellini or lasagna. Great also with pizza, BBQ and Mexican food. It's a very versatile wine.

About the Grape

Lambrusco
Well-made Lambrusco can be refreshingly dry, with a lovely fragrance of red fruit and violets, a medium-bodied palate of fresh strawberries, a gentle spritz and a slight bitter almond finish.
