As early as 1199, Prieuré de Montézargues was a fully functioning monastery. The property covers 84 acres sheltered from the Mistral winds by the Montagne Noire mountain range. The original stone monastery buildings blend seamlessly into the landscape forming a micro-terroir and the unique personality of the Montézargues estate vineyards.

Harvest Note
The winter was mild and rather rainy allowing for early bud breaks. Spring was wet and hot, resulting in early growth of the vines, good development of the leaf surface and very early flowering. It was a typical Mediterranean summer: dry with high temperatures, but not scorching. Veraison began at the end of July and was very fast. Harvest started on August 24, 2020. The 2020 vintage is characterized by its good acidity and great elegance.
Tasting Note
An appealing rosé with a brilliant pink color. On the nose, lots of fruit notes, especially strawberry and white peach, and an exceptional freshness. The palate combines aromatic intensity and good length with persisting citrus notes.
Food Pairing
Cheeses and fruit, grilled or sautéed salmon dishes, poultry in light to medium weight sauces and fresh salads.

About the Grape

Cinsaut
Ripe and meaty over elegant, with rose and almond notes, Cinsault’s relatively low tannins typically relegate it to blends with other varieties, as with Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel Rosé.
Clairette
Vinified carefully, Clairette produces a light, floral and fruity wine. Used in sparkling wine and in blends, including Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel Rosé, Côtes-du-Rhône and Lirac.
Grenache
Grenache is loaded with dense, lusty aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackcurrant, jam, pepper and licorice, with a palate-coating texture and high alcohol.
Grenache Blanc
This grape can produce an attractive, fleshy, generously fruity wine with a fragrance of flowers and dill.
Syrah
Syrah has seductively dense, rich, chewy black berry aromas and flavors, with notes of tar, wood smoke, bacon, leather, chocolate, and sometimes violets. The tannins are firm yet elegant.
