As early as 1199, Prieuré de Montézargues was a fully functioning monastery. The property covers 84 acres sheltered from the Mistral winds by the Montagne Noire mountain range. The original stone monastery buildings blend seamlessly into the landscape forming a micro-terroir and the unique personality of the Montézargues estate vineyards.

Harvest Note
The 2019 harvest started off with a mild mild winter, which helped kickstart vine development earlier than usual, cooler conditions in April and May slowed this down. June brought very hot weather which caused some stress on the fruit and foliage. The hottest part of the summer was bookended by major rain which helped stave off heat stress for the most part. Overall the harvest was a good size and produced a healthy crop.
Tasting Note
An appealing rosé with a brilliant pink color. A rich nose showing red berry tones such as strawberry and gooseberry. Fresh on the palate, with persisting citrus notes. Well rounded body and a long, structured finish.
Food Pairing
Wonderful to enjoy with cheeses and fruit, this wine is a truly versatile companion to many styles of cuisine. Pair with grilled or sautéed salmon dishes, poultry in light to medium weight sauces and fresh salads.

About the Grape

Cinsaut
Ripe and meaty over elegant, with rose and almond notes, Cinsault’s relatively low tannins typically relegate it to blends with other varieties, as with Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Tavel Rosé.
Clairette
Vinified carefully, Clairette produces a light, floral and fruity wine. Used in sparkling wine and in blends, including Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Tavel Rosé, Côtes-du-Rhône and Lirac.
Grenache
Grenache is loaded with dense, lusty aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackcurrant, jam, pepper and licorice, with a palate-coating texture and high alcohol.
Grenache Blanc
This grape can produce an attractive, fleshy, generously fruity wine with a fragrance of flowers and dill.
Syrah
Syrah has seductively dense, rich, chewy black berry aromas and flavors, with notes of tar, wood smoke, bacon, leather, chocolate, and sometimes violets. The tannins are firm yet elegant.
