In 2001, Alta Vista became the first Argentine winery to produce single vineyard wines. Alta Vista developed its Terroir Management® system for wine growing and winemaking, wherein grapes grown in distinctive sites express the true characteristics of each vineyard through distinctive wines. This vineyard is sited at over 3,000 feet in altitude in Valle de Uco, and the vines are over seventy years old. This light soil is sandy with some silt, is very permeable and has boulders and a broken layer of limestone at a depth of 2.5 feet. Traditional irrigation is fed by water from the Andes Mountains. Temis has the coldest climate of all Alta Vista’s terroirs. Nights are quite cool and days are warm and soft, with constant breezes that help to keep the vines and grapes healthy. The grapes have a slow, gradual cycle of ripeness that is balanced and ideal.

Harvest Note
Grapes from all parcels were hand picked during the first fifteen days of April ,carried to the winery in boxes to prevent them from breaking and refrigerated for 24 hours. Hand sorted and destemmed, the juice was gravity fed into small concrete tanks and spontaneously fermented by the native yeasts of our terroir. During fermentation, regular punch downs and pump overs are done to improve aroma, color and tannin extractions. Vatting lasted 28 days. Pomace was separated from the new wine using a vertical basket press. Malolactic fermentation occurred spontaneously in tanks and then the barrels were filled to begin the aging process.
Tasting Note
Deep purple aroma of fresh fruit with floral notes. On the palate, it is round with very sweet tannins and perfect harmony between wine and wood. Long finish. Decanting is recommended. Perfect drinking temperature is 61 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Can be cellared for more than 8 years.
