At Château La Nerthe, all the work in the vineyards is done using organic farming techniques.

The 230 acres vineyard of Château La Nerthe has a terroir of rock, sand, clay and loam soils. Much of the vineyards and the château are located southeast of the village. You can look at their vineyards as being placed in two large blocks. 148 acres of vines are adjacent and mostly in front of the chateau. There you’ll find more sand and clay in the terroir.  The remaining 74 acres are behind the château and abut the plateau of La Crau, which has more rocks and stones, known as galets in the region. Similar to what is planted at Château Beaucastel, the vineyards of Château La Nerthe are planted with all 13 types of grapes allowed in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Vines are up to 85+ years of age.

The climate is Mediterranean with more than 300 sunny days a year and the Mistral influence which protect the vines from diseases and give freshness to the wine. All the work in the vineyards is done using organic farming techniques, certified in 1998. They do this to obtain the purest fruit and terroir expression. La Nerthe is one of the first estates to begin picking in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
